What a wonderful weekend! We had a great time celebrating our daughter Stephanie's birthday! The weather was just perfect, the setting outstanding and the knowledge we came away with will stay with us forever.
There were about 50 artisans all dressed in period clothing demonstrating their craft the way it was done back in the day when our country was new.

When you think about the fact that all this was done simply to survive, so many things we take for granted was a struggle just to have. Nothing went to waste, every part of the plant or animal was used for something. The fact they were and had to be very ingenious and frugal, constantly trying to come up with a better way of life was impressive to say the least.

Every visit to Mount Vernen opens my eyes even more to the fact that "what if" these great people didn't take the chance, didn't have the desire, and didn't have the foresight to see what a great country they were about to establish for the sake of freedom. As I mentioned before, after a visit to Mount Vernen just helps "make sense" of America...it makes it all click so to speak.

We are going to try to go back around Christmas (yes it's open) , they say it will take your breath away to see George's house all decorated in all it's glory and step back in time to see what Christmas is really all about.

So to sum up the weekend in one word if I can, it would have to be PERFECT!
