Lion or Lamb??

So what did March come in as in your part of the country?? I think you can guess what it came in here in Smethport Pa...This is a picture out my back window...and you could say "Baby it's cold outside"! But one thing March does signal is that the end is near...winter that is:)

My grandma use to call these late winter storms "SUGAR SNOWS"...living here in Northwest Pa we are so blessed with thousands and thousands of Maple trees as well (as other hardwoods.) With the sun coming out during the day and the temps dropping at night it makes for perfect Maple syrup conditions....it is one of my all time favorite memories making syrup with my uncle...

We actually consider it another season around here....across the state line in Portville Ny the Sprague
family has built an empire around the sweet liquid...You can actually watch them make the syrup right in the building!

Well now I'm hungry for some Pure Maple syrup so I better go get the pancakes going!

Have a wonderfully sweet day!

I love your grandmother's name for late winter snow storms. Maybe if I think of them as "Sugar Snows" from now on, I won't get so cranky as I have to shovel myself out for the 200th time! Lol.

Sugar Snows...has a nice ring to it! I remember taking a class field trip, back in the 3rd grade--to watch the whole maple syrup making process--and leaving with yummy maple sugar candies (shaped like maple leaves) and sticky fingers.

Brrrrrr looks cold where you are! It's cold like a lion here, but sunny with the promise of spring. I'll say it's like the cowardly lion.

Now those are some serious icicles!

I'm thinking real maple syrup on pancakes this morning is just the thing!

No snow for me, sunny and very windy!!! I surely hope that we have had the last of the snow, but its up for grabs in Maryland. Weather is so unpredictable.

No snow...now icicles. I think today we got close to 70 degrees.

We went fishing yesterday, and it was 65 at 3:30 in the afternoon.

NICE!
